Për t’i dhënë fund zërave, përfaqësuesja e tij prej vitesh, Marlia Leslie, deklaroi për TMZ se Jim Carrey ishte personalisht i pranishëm në ceremoninë e Çmimeve César.

Edhe Gregory Collier, zëdhënës i ceremonisë, theksoi për Variety se nuk bëhej fjalë për asnjë “zëvendësim”, duke sqaruar se prania e aktorit ishte planifikuar prej muajsh.

“Sapo mori ftesën nga Akademia, Carrey u ndje jashtëzakonisht i emocionuar. Kanë qenë tetë muaj diskutime të vazhdueshme. Ai punoi për muaj të tërë mbi fjalimin e tij në frëngjisht, duke kërkuar madje edhe ndihmë për shqiptimin e saktë të disa fjalëve. Jim Carrey decided to personally clarify the situation, after speculation began online about whether he was really the person who showed up at the 51st César Awards ceremony to receive the award.

The 64-year-old actor's appearance in Paris sparked a backlash, with some commenters claiming he looked "a different person." But the situation escalated when makeup artist Alexis Stone posted a photo on Instagram with the caption:

"Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris." 

This post immediately sparked theories that he was not himself on stage.

To put an end to the rumors, his long-time representative, Marlia Leslie, told TMZ that Jim Carrey was personally present at the César Awards ceremony, where he received the Honorary Award.

Gregory Collier, a spokesman for the ceremony, also emphasized to Variety that there was no question of any "replacement," clarifying that the actor's presence had been planned for months.

"As soon as he received the invitation from the Academy, Carrey felt extremely excited. It had been eight months of constant discussions. He worked for months on his speech in French, even asking for help with the correct pronunciation of some words. He came accompanied by his partner, daughter, nephew and 12 close friends and family. Also present was his old friend, director Michel Gondry, with whom he has collaborated before," Collier said.

However, a number of conspiracy theories circulated online claiming that the actor may have been cloned, which received this clarification from the actor, in the hope that the theories would be "debunked."
